Just after 14:40 GMT today we saw interfaces from O2′s core network to us drop at Telehouse. This caused several thousand sessions to drop and re-connect.
A large proportion of load moved automatically to HEX8/9, and the rest reconnected at Telehouse when O2′s equipment recovered.
O2 have confirmed this to be caused by a device on their network, investigations are still ongoing to identify the root cause. Once this information has been made available by O2 we will update here

We are still waiting for further comment from O2′s Network Operations team regarding the ultimate cause of this outage. This is expected within the next few hours

We have received confirmation from O2 that on the 14th of December at 14:42, one of their nodes at the THE datacentre conducted a supervisor engine switchover which resulted in approximately 5 minutes downtime. Fluidata connections automatically moving over to HEX8/9 would have seen sessions reestablish before the THE node recovered
